Review: The Temple House, Chengdu

Updated: Sep 21

During my visit to Chengdu, I stayed at The Temple House, conveniently located on Taikoo Li Street, near many popular attractions. Despite being in the city center, the hotel offers a quiet and private retreat.

The Temple House exudes elegance and comfort, providing a serene escape in the heart of the city. Its beautifully designed exterior showcases traditional architecture. Upon entering, you're greeted by stunning red lanterns overhead, which look particularly magical at night.

The front desk staff were friendly and helpful, ensuring a smooth check-in process. They even recommended some local places to visit. The service at The Temple House was truly impressive. From the front desk to the restaurant, every staff member was professional, courteous, and attentive.

The rooms are beautiful and spacious, even for the smaller room types, and provided a comfortable stay.

The minibar comtains a variety of drinks as well as snacks including 小白兔奶糖 (white rabbit milk candy) and M&M’s, which are free, except for the wines.

The highlight of my stay was definitely the breakfast, which featured a variety of Chinese, Western, and Japanese cuisine. The buffet spread, along with the à la carte menu, included many delicious local dishes. My favourite are definitely the 钟水饺 (zhong dumplings) and 甜水面 (sweet water noodles).

The hotel also boasts Mi Xun, a one-star Michelin vegetarian restaurant, as well as Tivano, an Italian restaurant, along with other great amenities.

I highly recommend staying at The Temple House if you visit Chengdu.
